OIL SOLID – handmade paints in bar form, made from linseed oil, natural waxes, and high-quality artist pigments. Their soft consistency and texture inspire artists around the world, bringing additional qualities to artistic practice: color, trace, texture, depth, and direct contact with the surface during the act of painting. They can be applied with a palette knife, a brush, or used to paint vigorously across the entire surface. OIL SOLID is thinned with linseed oil, oil paint mediums, or mineral solvents. They can be mixed with oil paints in tubes. They can be used to draw directly on cardboard or paper. It can also be dipped in oil stand, Fluix-type gel retarders, or alkyd media to enhance glazing or texture. Each of the 36 colors is created by combining high-quality pigments with linseed oil and selected, specially matched waxes. OIL SOLID is a high-quality oil paint in the form of a round bar, allowing you to create your own unique painting technique. When working with our OIL SOLID, nothing stands between the artist and the canvas—not even a brush—and the creative possibilities are vast. From creating preliminary sketches that can later be painted over, to creating sgraffito effects where color is applied thickly and then scraped or scratched away.
