Renesans Gouache is a water-based, opaque paint made from gum arabic and egg, available in a range of 24 colors. Its defining characteristic is its opacity, which distinguishes it from watercolor. Gouache is often used in watercolor painting to depict highlights or to achieve uniform shades. Chicken egg yolk, as a natural emulsion, is a complete medium in itself. Thanks to the unique ability of the yolk’s components to form durable, water-resistant bonds, paintings created with egg-based gouache are particularly resistant to the passage of time. The gouache technique is most commonly used for underpainting in oil paintings, as well as for creating illustrations. The gouache technique can be combined with other techniques, such as watercolor or pastel. Renesans gouache paints are available in 20 ml aluminum tubes, with white and black additionally available in 60 ml tubes.
