An acid-resistant varnish applied to the printmaking plate creates a matte finish. During the etching process, the areas covered with varnish remain intact. 30g block
Graphic varnish—black, hard, acid-resistant wax in a ball—is applied to a polished, heated graphic plate (zinc or copper) before the etching process begins, creating a hard, matte surface that makes the etching process clear. The surfaces exposed during etching are then subjected to acid etching in the next stage of the process. Thanks to the varnish’s acid resistance, the surfaces covered with varnish remain intact.
